The School of Education at Peru State College

PSC’s School of Education is fully accredited by both the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE).

The School of Education at Peru State College (PSC) is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the organization responsible for professional accreditation of teacher education, with its most recent accreditation visit completed in Fall of 2008.  At this time, the School of Education was awarded continued accreditation for successfully meeting the performance-oriented standards that NCATE has established for institutions of higher education that prepare candidates for teacher education.

NCATE-accredited schools must meet rigorous standards set by the profession and members of the public. Teacher candidates must have in-depth knowledge of the subject matter they plan to teach as well as the skills necessary to convey it so that students learn. The college must carefully assess this knowledge and skill to determine that candidates may graduate.

The School of Education at PSC, which has been accredited by NCATE since the organization was founded in 1954, currently offers a wide array of initial programs that lead to teacher certification and a Masters program in curriculum and instruction for practicing teachers. More information about NCATE is available at www.ncate.org.

The School of Education offers programs to prepare students in the fields of Teacher Education and in Sport and Exercise Science. Our programs are designed to provide essential knowledge, skills and dispositions for success in these career fields. Please visit the conceptual frameworks to learn more.
