Peru, Nebraska – Peru State College announced its 2022 Homecoming Court, with candidates who were selected by the student body and were featured in the annual homecoming parade and during the halftime ceremony. Seniors Daniela Lagunas and Andrew Black Elk were crowned as the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen on Saturday, October 1st at the Oak Bowl during the halftime ceremony of Peru State vs. Evangel University football game.

Freshmen representatives are Lydia Lang and Brodey Johnson.

Lydia Lang is the daughter of Matthew and Pamela Lang from Palmyra, Nebraska. Lydia is majoring in Elementary Education. She participates in Cross Country, Christian Student Fellowship (CSF), and Peru State Education Association (PSEA).

Brodey Johnson is the son of Brandon and Stacey Johnson. He is from North Bend, Nebraska. Brodey is majoring in Business and is involved in football at Peru State.

Sophomore representatives are Alyse Foster and Grant Gutschow.

Alyse Foster is the daughter of Michael and (Peru State 2000 Alumni) Katie Foster. She is from Indianola, Nebraska. Alyse is majoring in Criminal Justice Administration and minoring in Theatre. She is currently the Vice President of Student Senate, Secretary and Treasurer of PRIDE, and Vice President and actor for Peru Theatre Company. She is also involved in choir and is a member of Campus Activities Board (CAB).

Grant Gutschow is the son of Lisa and Chris Gutschow of Elkhorn, Nebraska. Grant is a Biochemistry major and plays on the football team at Peru State.

Junior representatives are Laini Fullerton and Carson Maas.

Laini Fullerton is the daughter of Brooke and Dan Fullerton of Lincoln. Laini is double majoring in Elementary and Special Education. She is a cheerleader and participates in Peru State Education Association (PSEA), Peru Association of Student Athletes (PASA), Christian Student Fellowship (CSF), Ambassadors, intramurals, and a Top Cat.

Carson Maas is the son of Phil and Lisa Maas. He is from Papillion, Nebraska. Carson’s double majoring in Art and Physical Education. He also a runner for Peru State’s Cross-Country team.

Peru State College King and Queen Candidates for 2022:

Bailey Bitz is the daughter of Guy and Rachel Bitz. She is from Ravenna, Nebraska. Bailey is majoring in Mathematics and Secondary Math Education, and minoring in Psychology. She is currently serving as the Vice President of Math Club and has been a member for three years. She is also a pitcher on the Peru State Softball team, works in the student activities office, is a math tutor through Center for Achievement and Transitional Services (CATS), and she has served as a Top Cat for three years.

Phillip Hensarling is the son of Laura Ward and is from Broken Bow, Nebraska. He is a Social Science Education major. Phillip is the President of Student Senate, and he is in the Social Science Club/Phi Alpha Theta. He has been the Welcome Week Student Coordinator the last two years, and he has worked in the Admissions Office for the last four years. Phillip is a part of Christian Challenge Bible Study and attends the Northridge Church here in Peru.

Karley Dieckmann is the daughter of Zach and Kim Dieckmann. She is from Holton, Kansas. Karley is majoring in Wildlife Ecology with a Psychology minor. She is the captain of the club volleyball team, the social and fundraising chair for National Student Leadership Society (NSLS), member of Tri-beta, and an intramural referee. She loves being involved in intramurals, school events, concerts, and hanging out with friends and family. She just hosted a charity called Disable the Label. It was a day full of fun for people with special needs. As a result, Karley was able to donate over $2,000 to Region V in Auburn. She hopes to make Disable the Label go global and possibly tie in her wildlife degree in the future.

Sebastian Boelhower is a senior K-12 music education major from Hastings, Nebraska. He is the oldest son of Jamey and Lynette Boelhower. Sebastian is very active on campus. He is the president of both the Peru State Catholic Union "Bobcatholics," and the National Association for Music Education. He has also served as Vice President of the PSEA for two years. Sebastian sings in the Concert Choir, and plays in both the jazz band and the concert band, in which he serves as the student conductor. Sebastian is the music tutor on campus as well as a student ambassador. He also served as the Top Cat student coordinator for Welcome Week this year.

Jaelynn Muhr is the daughter of Jason and Cassandra Muhr and is from Mitchell, Nebraska. Jaelynn is double majoring in Elementary Education and K-12 Music Education. She participates in Women’s Choir, Jazz Band, Christian Student Fellowship, and other Bible studies happening with students.

Ryan Arnold is the son of Terry and Vicki Arnold. He is from Beatrice, Nebraska. Ryan is majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Kinesiology. He is involved with science club, Rotaract, NSLS, CSF, club golf, Residence Life as a Resident Assistant, and undergraduate research in chemistry.

Camaryn Gydesen is the daughter of Scott and Stacey Gydesen. She is from Odell, Nebraska. Camaryn is majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Kinesiology. On campus, she is involved as a Resident Assistant and is involved as intramural sports student supervisor, a member of Rotaract, science club, club golf, and a Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) student. Her hobbies include anything outside, hanging out with friends, and Women’s Only Weights.

Andrew Black Elk is the son of Mandi Musfelt, and is from Gordon, Nebraska. He is majoring in Business Management with a minor in Human Resources and Risk Management. Andrew is involved with several clubs/organizations around campus, including Financial Secretary for Student Senate, 2022 Homecoming Parade Chair, Students Active in Leadership, CAB, Residents Assistant, RHA, Ambassador, former Cross Country, and Intramural Sports.

Daniela Lagunas is the daughter of Omar and Eneida Lagunas and was raised in Hastings, Nebraska. Daniela is majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Psychology. She is the president of the Rotaract club, a member of the science club, NSLS, helps run Women’s Only Weights, and is a third-year Morgan RA. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends. Her goal this semester is the get Women’s Only Weights members free t-shirts. Upon graduation, Daniela will be attending Physician Assistant school at UNMC and hopes to work in women’s health someday.

Brett Soderlund is the son of Misti and Tracy Soderlund and is from Danbury, Nebraska. Brett is an Early Childhood Education Inclusive major with a coaching endorsement. He participates in Council for Exceptional Learners and Peru State Education Association (PSEA).
