Peru, Nebraska – The oldest institution of higher education in the state of Nebraska will hold its 2022 commencement on Saturday, May 7, at 10 a.m. Peru State’s annual event will be held in the Al Wheeler Center Activity Center on the College’s campus.

Following a welcome by President Michael Evans, the Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Matt Hill, will perform The National Anthem and Sons and Daughters of Peru.

Mr. John Chaney will provide greetings from the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees.

Peru State will present a Distinguished Service Award and a Teacher Excellence Award with an announcement of the honorees to be addressed closer to the event.

Over 400 masters and undergraduates degrees will be conferred. Eight students will be recognized as Honors Program Graduates. Those individuals, with their majors and hometowns noted include: Shelby Ann Bartlett – liberal arts from Crete ; Mason Lee Clobes – biochemical science with mathematics minor from Seward; Kelsi Leininger – business administration – public administration and business administration – human resources and risk management from Shenandoah, Iowa; Kaitlyn Rose McNeil – psychology from Sterling; Jolie Marcella Scott – history from Jansen; Brealynn Elizabeth Wattier – English with psychology minor from Raymond; Bryanna Grace Woodard – wildlife ecology from Homer; and Parker Donly Gutschow – biochemical science from Elkhorn.

The Concert Choir will conclude commencement with the singing of the Peru State College Color Song.

Serving as ceremonial student marshals for the event will be Phillip Hensarling, Student Senate President-Elect and Alyse Foster, Student Senate Vice President-Elect. Hensarling is from Broken Bow while Foster hails from Indianola.

Following the conclusion of commencement, those in attendance are invited to a celebration reception on the campus quad. Light hors d’oeuvres and music will be provided which will give families, friends, and the College’s faculty/staff an opportunity to wish the 2022 graduates success in their future endeavors.
