Peru, Nebraska – Peru State College, its Athletic Department, and the College’s Foundation will be hosting a “Community Celebration Day” on Saturday, September 17.

President Dr. Michael Evans and Athletic Director Wayne Albury, along with the Foundation, are working together in planning the event which shows the continued collaboration between the college and the region.

All area residents are invited to attend the two athletic events planned for the day for free.

The Bobcat Volleyball team will be hosting Mount Mercy (Iowa) at 9:30 a.m. in the Al Wheeler Activity Center. Later, at 1 p.m. the Peru State Football team will be facing Baker (Kansas) in the historic Oak Bowl.

Dr. Evans stated, “Recently it was noted that Peru State College is a powerful driving force for the economy of Southeast Nebraska. We realize this has occurred with the help of those in the region. This is just one way the College can pay back the residents for their continued support of the college. We hope many can attend and support both Bobcat teams.”

At halftime of the football game, the winter and spring student-athletes who received athletic and academic honors will be recognized by the college.
