Peru, Nebraska - Peru State College, the Black Student Union and the Campus Activities Board hosted Step Afrika! as part of its homecoming activities. Step Afrika! performed in the Performing Arts Center for students, faculty, staff and guests.

Step Afrika writes, "Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities; traditional African dances; and an array of contemporary dance and art forms into a cohesive, compelling artistic experience. Performances are much more than dance shows; they integrate songs, storytelling, humor and audience participation. The blend of technique, agility, and pure energy makes each performance unique and leaves the audience with their hearts pounding."

From StepAfrika.org, "Every year, Step Afrika!’s artists engage thousands of students at small rural colleges and large state universities in the African American tradition of stepping. The Company’s College Tour performances engage the next generation of college students in the practice of stepping and enrich the cultural life of American communities on and off campus."

Step Afrika! visited Peru State between performances at the University of Northern Iowa, in Washington, DC, and in Dubai.
