Peru, Nebraska – The Peru State College Art Gallery is hosting a new art show, “The Reason I’m Here.” The featured work was created by guest artist Loren Entz and will be on display until February 28.
The Peru State Gallery’s hours are 8:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
According to Entz’s biography, “Whereas many Western artists focus on the more adventurous aspects of the historical West and modern ranch life, Entz paints the quieter, more domestic side of rural life. He searches for the connections between the shared experiences of Anglos and Native Americans in the West. His paintings of Native American life often focus on more domestic subjects and scenes the work that must be done, the events that closely tie family members together.”
“Entz’s paintings reveal the deep human emotions that unite, rather than divide, the many cultures that make up the past and the present worlds of the West.”
Loren Entz grew up in Kansas, where he frequently visited the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, MO. He worked as a ranch hand in Montana, as a teenager he nurtured his artistic talent through course work at the Famous Artists Correspondence School, and through his studies with two masters of representational painting, Bettina Steinke and Richard Schmid. He currently lives in Brownville with his family.
Entz works in a variety of styles, including oil, charcoal, pencil, pastel and watercolor.
