Altoona, Iowa – Tom Casey was inducted into the Iowa Football Coaches Association (IFCA) Hall of Fame on March 1 during the Association’s annual clinic. Casey graduated from Peru State College in 1978.
The IFCA writes, “A 1973 graduate of Cumberland and Messena, Tom Casey has had a storied 40-year coaching career. After earning his degree from Peru State in 1978, he served as an assistant football coach at Manilla for seven years.”
“Casey was the head coach for one season before it became Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla and his 22 year run with I-K-M included five playoff births and an impressive 12-1 run to the Class A Championship in 2006. His next eight playoff teams would come with IKM-Manning, where he is still the head coach today.”

The IFCA adds that in addition to coaching football, Casey coaches the weight lifting program and teaches industrial technology. Casey has earned multiple IFCA coaching honors and was the State Coach of the Year in 2006.
The Harlan Tribune reports that Casey said, “Our kids have been really willing to do what it takes to be successful. They have a good work ethic and theyï¿¿are coachable. They want to compete and they want to win and theyï¿¿are willing to do the hard work to get that accomplished.”
