Peru, Nebraska – Dr. Paul Turman, Chancellor of the Nebraska State College System (NSCS), visited the Peru State College System on Tuesday, February 19. Turman began as Chancellor on January 2, 2019.
Turman gave an all-campus address in the newly remodeled Performing Arts Center. His remarks focused on the shared vision between Peru State College and the Nebraska State College System.
“Having the opportunity to gain insight directly from members of the Peru State family was a great way to spend the day,” Turman said.
“Thank you to everyone who came and participated in the sessions. Your input will serve an important role as we work to create our next strategic plan for the State Colleges.”
Turman met with students, faculty, staff, community leaders and friends of the College throughout the day. Four town hall meetings were hosted in the afternoon with the Chancellor answering questions on a wide range of subjects.
“The entire campus community enjoyed having him visit,” said Dr. Dan Hanson, president of Peru State College, “I appreciated the way he engaged with the campus and I look forward to Peru State being a part of his vision for the future.”id="attachment_13932" align="" width="300"
Dr. Paul Turman meeting with Peru State students.Tuesday’s visit was Turman’s third visit to Peru State. Turman also attended the annual Alumni Chili Feed earlier in the month where he met with alumni and friends of the College including the National Alumni Board. His first visit was in late 2018.
On October 1, 2018, the Board of Trustees unanimously selected Dr. Turman to be the next Chancellor. Turman succeeded Chancellor Stan Carpenter, who announced his plans to retire last May.
Turman was most recently the System Vice President for Academic Affairs for the South Dakota Board of Regents. He has been part of the South Dakota Board of Regents in various roles since 2006.
Turman received his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in Interpersonal Communication; his M.A. from South Dakota State University in Communication; and his B.S. from South Dakota State University in General Studies/Art Minor.
