West Lafayette, Indiana - Trey Nelson earned first place in the Krannert Mock Case Competition at Purdue University. Nelson was admitted to the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University after completing his undergraduate degree at Peru State College earlier this year. Nelson was first among 105 participating graduate students.

Nelson gives a large credit to his involvement in Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) over his time on campus. He was a stand-out performer for the organization in all of their competitions.

“PBL really does pay off!” Nelson said, thanking Dr. Sheri Grotrian, professor of business and advisor of PBL. “Thank you for your years of mentorship. I'm super fortunate to be able to have the experiences I did - thanks to you!”

Nelson qualified for Phi Beta Lambda's national competition three times where he earned six top-ten finishes. He has earned third place in Future Business Executive, fourth place in Management Analysis and Decision Making, sixth place in Parliamentary Procedure, eighth place in Business Decision Making, ninth place in Marketing Analysis and Decision Making and tenth place in the Job Interview Event.

The competition is defined by Purdue University as being an academic competition in which students come together to solve a case. Students use a variety of skills to deduce a recommendation that they support in a presentation in front of judges or company sponsors.id="attachment_11037" align="" width="200"Nelson is wearing a blue tie.
