Peru, Nebraska - Peru State College hosted Nebraska Brass on September 5 in the Performing Arts Center.

The eclectic performance featured music from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, Andrew Lloyd Weber's Phantom of the Opera and Gioachino Rossini's the William Tell Overture. The Nebraska Brass also played songs by the Beach Boys, the Beatles and Duke Ellington.

Nebraska Brass is one of the Midwest’s most popular brass quintets. Audiences young and old enjoy the group’s serious musicianship and lighthearted humor as they present a variety of music ranging from classical to popular, Dixieland, and jazz.

Nebraska Brass is comprised of musicians with a wealth of experience in both classical and commercial idioms. Members have performed with ensembles such as the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, Strategic Air Command Band (USAF) and Mannheim Steamroller.  In addition, members have toured and performed throughout the United States, Australia, Europe, South America, Japan, and the Caribbean with numerous musical ensembles.

The Brass performed as part of the College's Performing Arts Series. The next free and open to the public event on campus will be Jazz on the Green. Jazz on the Green will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on September 26.
