Peru, Nebraska- Fourteen Peru State students visited the Cargill Meat Processing Plant in Nebraska City for a business field trip. Peru State alum Nathan Meyer works for Cargill and set up the tour.  Students who attended the trip were in the Production Operations Management course with Todd Chipman, instructor of business.

Chipman said, “The 90-minute tour started with an introduction by Plant Manager Cliff Wiles. During the tour, students learned about various meat finishing processes, regulations, robotics, workforce management, and leadership challenges in a production environment.”

“Cliff Wiles expressed an interest in starting an internship program with Peru State, and several students expressed interest in such a program.”

The participating business students included Dawn Castle, Bailey Coonze, Michael Demers, Sara Granfors, Nadja Janjevic, Spencer Kerwin, Maggie Kruse, Christopher Nwafor, Brenna Parry, Nancy Ramirez, Kortney Reitz, Juliana Riege, Thomas Veleba and Danielle Wingert.

Chipman and Kevin Blobaum, instructional design and technology specialist, accompanied the students.
