Peru, Nebraska – All Peru State College students were given the opportunity to visit the Duck Creek Recreational Area just outside of Peru for free kayaking and paddleboarding. A total of 36 students participated in the event.

Dr. Frank Lynott, assistant professor of health, education and recreation, said, “Student’s response to this year’s event was once again overwhelmingly positive and supportive. Several students commented that would like to see more opportunities that provide them with opportunities to participate in events like this.”

Lynott partnered with Student Activities, Student Life and the Outdoor Living Club for the event. They were able to bring in WoggWorks Kayaking and Driftwood Paddle Adventures, who provided the kayaks, paddle boards and quick lessons on how to operate the equipment safely.

He continued by saying, “Both companies commented that they thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to expose our students to the joys and benefits of kayaking and paddle boarding and look forward to doing this again .”

Last year the event was open only to physical education students, but after the overwhelming positive feedback, it was brought back this year for everybody to enjoy.
