Peru, Nebraska – The School of Arts and Sciences will be hosting a series of Weekend Workshops on graphic design through November.  The workshops are taught by new Assistant Professor of Art Ken Curtis in room 104 of the A.V. Larson Building on the Peru State College Campus.

The workshops are free and open to students, employees and the public. Please register by e-mailing kcurtist@peru.edu. Each of the workshops are intended to last four hours and start at 9 a.m. on Saturdays throughout the fall.

 

Topics Date Description
Photoshop I Sep. 21 In this workshop we focus on the basics of Photoshop. The goal is to make the student comfortable with the process of opening a document and working with the basic tools. Simple photo manipulation will be explored.
InDesign I Oct. 5 Basic page layout will be explored using InDesign. We will start with getting comfortable with the software by adding text and images to create a simple but interesting layout.
Typography I Oct. 12 The basics of typography is a must to create engaging flyers or announcements. In this workshop we cover the rules and guidelines dealing with the many options of type. A basic understanding of Illustrator is needed for the workshop.
Illustrator II Oct. 26 Take your Illustrator experience to the next level. This workshop will continue where the first workshop ended. We will discuss using photographs, typography and creating a typographic poster.
Photoshop II Nov. 9 This workshop continues where the first PS workshop ended. We will be exploring many of the more intermediate tools needed to edit photographs including basic photo manipulation.
Video Editing I Nov. 23 We will be working with Adobe3 Premiere to do basic editing of videos. The workshop will include cuts, adding text, and saving your video to the correct format.
