Peru, Nebraska - The American Red Cross hosted a blood drive on the Peru State College campus on Tuesday, September 10. There were 43 volunteers who donated blood.
Vice President with the Peru State Red Cross Club, Thomas Veleba, writes "31 units of blood were donated - that means that up to 93 lives will be saved."
This follows a similar drive in June that raised 7 units.
Veleba adds, "Thank you to all students, faculty and members of the community who were able to come in and donate."
The next drive will be held in the Live Oak Room of the Student Center on Tuesday, November 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment to donate blood, please visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter PSC to schedule an appointment. Walk-in appointments will also be accepted.
The American Red Cross writes, "Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood."
