The band will be conducted by adjunct professor of music, Ben Hanika. They will be performing pieces by Samuel Hazo, Bruce Preuninger, and James Swearingen.
Hanika said, "The students have been working hard and have made amazing progress this semester, and I am excited to showcase the work that they have been doing in what promises to be a wonderful performance in the beautifully remodeled Performing Arts Center here on campus."
The College Band was established in 1889, making it the second oldest existing band in Nebraska. Membership is open to all students and represents a true cross-section of the Peru State student population. The College Band emphasizes the study and performance of traditional and contemporary band literature in a variety of styles, and provides personal musical growth opportunities for its members through participation in performances of the highest level.
The Jazz Band's next concert will be held on December 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Admission is free and open to the wider Peru State community.
