Peru, Nebraska- Peru State’s Actions in Motion (AIM) is holding a Winter Necessities Drive throughout the month of November.

AIM is accepting warm items for the winter, including socks, blankets, coats, pajamas and anything warm and fuzzy. All donations collected during the drive will go to CEDARS Home for Children.

Dr. Bittner said, “Did you know that during the 2017-2018 reporting period, 7,967 Nebraska children and youth were placed in out-of-home care? It’s very common for these youth to take nothing but the clothes on their back into placement, so AIM would like to bless Nebraska through our warm Winter Necessities Drive.”

CEDARS-Kids.org reads, "For over 70 years, thousands of vulnerable children and youth have found safe refuge and a new beginning at CEDARS. One of Nebraska’s most trusted child-service organizations, CEDARS makes sure that children feel safe and secure. At the same time, we’re giving parents, foster families, and partnering agencies the support they need to care effectively for children."

There are seven drop boxes located in different buildings across campus. Donations can also be dropped off in Dr. Bittner’s office, or contact Dr. Bittner to agree on a pick-up location.

For more information about the drive, contact Co-Presidents Mikaela Thompson and Serena Nelson or Advisor Dr. Gina Bittner in TJ Majors 105.
