Peru, Nebraska – On September 12th, the first of a series of surveys will be released from the City
of Peru Work Group, asking city residents and stakeholders for community input. The
survey results will help identify ways the community can move toward positive change
and better understand Peru’s unique characteristics, community assets and potential
opportunities.
A group of City of Peru officials, Peru State College officials, city residents and
friends of the College have begun meeting to develop a common vision and possible
plans for community growth and collaborations between the City and College.
The group writes, “Our first step in this planning process is to gather information
from you through this survey. The survey is conducted by Nebraska Extension with the
assistance of the Peru team and is funded through Mainstreet Bank. Please access the
survey online at https://go.unl.edu/PERU.”
The group continues, “Everyone is encouraged to complete the survey. We are asking
those who live in or near Peru, work, go to school, shop or frequent Peru to participate
in the survey.”
The survey will take 15 to 20 minutes to complete and all answers will be confidential.
Responses will be gathered by Nebraska Extension personnel and will be shared only
as summaries in which no individual’s answers can be identified.
In addition to the electronic version, physical copies of the survey will be available
for pickup at the Peru City Office (615 5th Street), the Peru State College Student
Center and various businesses throughout the community. Completed surveys can be dropped
off at the City Office or the Student Center.
The group is also planning focused community discussions running from October 21 through
October 30. These discussions will provide additional opportunities for city residents
and stakeholders to lend their voices and help improve both halves of the community.
Results of these efforts will be announced at a town hall /open forum held Wednesday,
November 14. The event will be open to the public.
