Peru, Nebraska - Peru State College’s Good Citizens of the Month have been chosen for October. Jeremiah Villeneuve, a maintenance worker at Peru State, and Andrew Pavel, a sophomore, have been recognized with the faculty/staff good citizen award and the student citizen award, respectively.

Villeneuve received multiple nominations, all including the Campus of a Thousand Oaks Wellness Trail that he helped revitalize on the list of reasoning. He has spent a great deal of time time on cleaning and maintaining it, and continuously encourages people to get out on the trail and to better themselves.

Upon receiving the news of the award, Villeneuve said, “My heart was overwhelmed with joy to know my continuous hard work has been noticed beyond the small group of staff and students that has watched the trail take shape from a dream to a reality over the last year and a half.”

“One of the greatest gifts was being able to help create a living legacy through the Campus of a Thousand Oaks Wellness Trail. By doing so, I was able to give back to the campus community where I gained the knowledge and know-how to help develop my passion.”

Pavel, the student winner, was selected for his dedication to helping other students. He has organized many study groups with classmates and always takes the time to help out students who are struggling.

Pavel is a Wildlife Ecology major from Seward, Nebraska. He also served as a Top Cat Leader for this year's Welcome Week for incoming students.
