Lincoln, Nebraska – Jill Johnson was named the 2018 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals (NSASSP).  The award was presented at the NSASSP Annual Conference.

According to the Seward Independent, “Johnson has been involved in education since 1991 and for the past two years has served as the assistant principal at Seward High School. Prior to that she was the professional development consultant for ESU 6 in Milford as well as an adjunct professor for Doane College and Southeast Community College.”

The NSASSP website writes, “Nebraska Assistant Principal of the Year award program annually recognizes outstanding school leaders who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities for students. These assistant principals are acknowledged by their peers for the exemplary contributions they have made to the profession.”

“I strive to bring energy and enthusiasm to everything I do in order to highlight the best in others and ensure all feel honored and important,” Johnson told the Seward Independent, “Surrounded by an exceptional staff and outstanding students, I feel blessed to come to work every day.”

Johnson has multiple graduate degrees including a Masters of Science from Peru State College.

Johnson will also be considered for the National Association of Secondary School Principals’ award.
