Peru, Nebraska – Peru State College is hosting to Ken Alvine’s Vintage Art Collection. The Collection is on display Peru State Art Gallery in the AV Larson building from September 3 to September 28, 2018.
The Gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or by appointment. To make an appointment, contact Miranda Pollock at mpollock@peru.edu.
In total, the collection includes over 100 pieces of artwork from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s depicting some of the iconic styles in hand designed marketing advertisements of the time. Fans of the vintage style may be interested in the exclusive visit with Paul Fell and collection owner Ken Alvine on Wednesday, September 26 at 9:30 a.m.
Alvine is a graduate from the University of Washington in Seattle and The Art Institute of Colorado, owner of Creative Comics Production, and the publisher and producer of comic products. His work as graphic designer on the Boeing 747 project, a plan that saw one of the world’s most iconic airplanes undergo the transformation into a moving art experience, is one particularly notable feat of Alvine’s.
Other remarkable achievements of Ken Alvine’s include is winning of several Addy Awards from South Dakota Advertising Federation and the National Cartoonists Society Tim Rosenthal award, as well as his honoring in the 2017 National FEMA awards for writing and illustrating three children’s safety books.
