Emporia, Kansas – Peru State alum Dedra Braxmeyer was named the 2018 Master Teacher for United School District 383 under Emporia State University’s Kansas Master Teacher Awards. Braxmeyer teaches algebra and trigonometry at Manhattan High School in Manhattan, Kansas.

“There are so many excellent teachers, so really it was meaningful to be selected from such a 0utstanding group of educators in the district,” Braxmeyer told the Manhattan Mercury.

According to their website, “Emporia State University established the Kansas Master Teacher awards in 1954. The awards are presented annually to teachers who have served the profession long and well and who also typify the good qualities of earnest and conscientious teachers.”

Braxmeyer earned a Masters of Education from Peru State.
