Peru, Nebraska - Eight Peru State College student organizations have adopted blocks in the City of Peru on which to pick up litter. The litter pick-up follows the winter weather, but is ahead of the annual City-Wide Clean-up.
Jason Hogue, Director of Marketing and Communications, said, "Cleaning up our beautiful
community is an important part of living with our neighbors. Thank you to all the
students that participated."
The Adopt-A-Block Program prioritizes blocks closest to campus in the belief that
those areas see the most traffic and litter. Some groups may still be planning cleanup
activities for their block.
Lindsay Harlow, president of Phi Beta Lambda, writes, "It feels great to be about
to give back to the community we all live in. By participating in Adopt-A-Block we
hope it betters the community."
"Sometimes it's the small efforts that make the biggest differences."
Noah Harvey, president of Rotaract, adds, "I think that it is important that students,
faculty and staff invest in the community where our campus is located - and Adopt-A-Block
does an excellent job achieving that."
Participating groups include Campus Activities Board, Lambda Alpha Epsilon, Phi Alpha
Theta, Phi Beta Lambda, PILOT Club, the Red Cross Club, Rotaract and Student Success
Services. Other clubs are still welcome to participate.
Student organizations will continue with plans for their usual Adopt-a-Mile cleanup
on Highway 67, etc. The annual collaborative clean-up with the City of Peru is scheduled
for Friday, April 27.
