Peru, Nebraska - This summer, Peru State's Bailey Bindle attended the “SADD Gives Back” conference in Washington D.C.  While attending the conference, 17 students were selected to meet the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, (while she was on her “Be Best” campaign) — and Bindle was one of them.

When the FLOTUS arrived, volunteers were creating tie blankets, Bindle writes, “She [Trump] looked around the room and headed straight for me, she wanted to know what we were doing, so I told her."

"Then she wanted to know how to make a tie blanket, so I showed her. I thought to myself ‘I am literally teaching the First Lady of the United States how to make a tie blanket’.”

Bindle is a member of the 2017-2018 SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) National College Advisory Council. She serves as the organization’s National Vice President of Communications.
