Lincoln - Kesha Beethe was the a alumni speaker at the annual Board of Trustees Scholarship
luncheon held by the Nebraska State College System. BOT Scholarship recipients (and
their families) planning to attend Peru State College, Chadron State College or Wayne
State College are honored at the event.
Beethe's message focused on her love of helping others live the life they want.
"You do know what you want to do with your life, it is just recognizing it," she said.
"This scholarship is an honor," Beethe told the group of students and parents, "One
I wish I hadn't turned down."
Beethe continues, "I started at college and I transferred to Peru. I wish I had been as wise as you are and started there
sooner."
Beethe also used the speech to describe the opportunities she had at a Nebraska State
College. She highlighted her work with AmeriCorps under the CHANCE Initiative and
as a Phi Beta Lambda national champion. Beethe also ran cross country where she was
a Capital One District Six All-American and a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
Originally from Tecumseh, she currently lives in Washington where she is a global
learning coordinator for Amazon.
At the luncheon she announced her engagement to Marshall Klontz who is also a Peru
State alum and is originally from Auburn, Washington.
Other speakers at the luncheon included Stan Carpenter, chancellor of the Nebraska
State College System; John Kuehn, Nebraska State Senator; and the presidents of Chadron
State College, Peru State College and Wayne State College.
