Lincoln, Nebraska - Members of the nationally recognized Peru State Phi Beta Lambda chapter were recognized in Nebraska's state capitol on Monday, November 13, 2017  by the Commissioner of the Nebraska Department of Education, Dr. Matthew Blomstedt. Alex Kenney, Ashlyn Draper and Brooke Rudebusch were invited to attend for receiving top honors at the 2017 Phi Beta Lambda National Conference.

Dr. Sheri Grotrian-Ryan, Phi Beta Lambda advisor and professor of business at Peru State, wrote, "I am proud of the PSC PBL representation at the Commissioner's Recognition yesterday at the Nebraska State Capitol. It is wonderful to see students recognized at such a prestigious ceremony for their exceptional work."

Samantha Hinrichs, a recent Peru State graduate, was also invited to attend.

The Peru State College Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda brought home thirteen top-ten national awards and two chapter awards from the 2017 PBL National Leadership Conference.  Twenty-five Peru State students competed in Anaheim, California from June 24 to June 27.

Participants from across the United States attended this exciting conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in 60 business and business-related competitive events. To qualify for the national competition, Phi Beta Lambda members had to place in the top two or three spots at the state competition.

In Anaheim, Kenney (Milford, NE) won first place in the Client Services competition as well as fifth place in Job Interview. At the Nebraska competition, Kenney took home first in Client Service and second in Job Interview.

Draper (Lincoln, NE), Rudebusch (Moorpark, California) and Hinrichs (Ankeny, Iowa) won second place in Business Sustainability. At the Nebraska competition, the trio took first place in Business Sustainability.  Draper also took home three individual top ten finishes from the Nebraska competition.

Hinrichs took home her own top ten trophy from the Nebraska competition. In the Nebraska competition, Rudebusch and Hinrichs were also a part of a second trio with Lauren Robertson (Omaha, NE) that took second place in Analytical Decision Making.

Forty Peru State College students competing in the Nebraska competition brought home more than 80 top ten finishes including 12 first place awards.
