Peru, Nebraska- This summer, Peru State has over 325 students enrolled in its graduate programs. Peru State’s Dean of Graduate Programs, Dr. Greg Seay, announced the strong enrollment numbers after class began in June.
Peru State offers two Master’s programs: the Master of Science in Education (MSED)
and the Master of Science in Organizational Management (MSOM). Both programs are available
online with the MSED offering an accelerated cohort program.
“Our MSED program includes an emphasis in curriculum and instruction. The MSOM includes
an emphasis in entrepreneurship and economic development with the option for a certificate
of advanced studies in both programs,” Seay said.
The cohort program allows students to complete their Master’s in Education degree
in only 19 months. The students start taking classes in the summer and finish in the
following December. This year, cohort student numbers are twice as large as traditional
student numbers.
Peru State awarded almost 150 graduate degrees in December and May of this year.
The College awarded a total of 432 graduate and undergraduate degrees.
The MSED and MSOM traditional programs offer eight-week courses, enabling students
to take two courses per semester. Students who choose to take the traditional option
in either the MSED or MSOM program generally finish their Master’s degree in two years.
“This is especially beneficial for working professionals who wish to complete their
degree program while still working full time,” Seay said.
For the last six credit hours of their degree, MSOM students must complete a final
project. The students create a project specifically designed from their individual
interests, “They can build on their current career or research interests outside of
their current job to help guide them in their career interests.”
Sixty percent of Peru State’s graduate students come from Nebraska while the other
forty percent come from other states around the country. Seay believes there is a
high number of non-Nebraskans because of Peru’s “one rate, any state” tuition guarantee
that ensures all students pay the same tuition rates as Nebraska residents.
Seay adds, “This also provides great opportunities for students to collaborate and
build professional networks across the country.”

College as the seventh most affordable online college for a Masters in Education in
the nation for 2017. TopMastersinEducation.com named Peru State College’s Master
of Education program the fourth best online program in the nation for 2016. Peru State’s
MSED was also ranked third in the nation for Most Affordable Online Degree Programs
in 2016 by Best Value Schools and third in the nation by GetEducation.com in 2015.

Master of Science in Organizational Management degree in 2014. ValueColleges.com
