Peru, Nebraska – Peru State College President Dr. Dan Hanson invites area residents to campus for the College’s 150th anniversary during this year’s annual homecoming celebration, themed “Once a Bobcat, Always a Bobcat,” on Saturday, October 28.

President Hanson said, “Homecoming is always an exciting time to visit campus, but as we celebrate 150 as an institution, this is going to be a weekend no one will want to miss.”

“I hope that everyone can join us to celebrate Peru State, visit with friends and family, and enjoy our beautiful campus.”

Thursday, October 26

Friday, October 27

3-5 p.m. – Alumni Reunion Registration – Library

For this celebration, Alumni from the graduating classes of 1967, 1987 and 2007 are invited back to campus to celebrate their milestone reunions! Members of 1966, 1968, 1986, 1988. 2006 and 2008 are also invited to celebrate with their friends and classmates.

Special affinity groups including Student Senate presidents, Band members, Cheerleaders, Phi Alpha Theta members and Nebraska State College Student Trustees, as well as those who served as Homecoming Kings and Queens are also invited back to campus.

An entry fee of $20 is required.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. the day of the race. The starting line is near the Peru Fire Station and the finish line is near the front of T.J. Majors on the Peru State campus. Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers.

10 a.m. – Parade – Downtown Peru

Free and open to the public. Registration to be in the parade is available at www.peru.edu/studentlife/senate.

10:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Tailgate and Carnival – Campus Quad

Free and open to the public.

The tailgate – featuring chili, burgers, hotdogs and more – will be held on the campus Quad near the Library.

The Peru State Jazz Band will be on hand to entertain the crowd on the steps of the Jindra Fine Arts Building.  A variety of other activities are planned for young and old alike including yard games and inflatables for children.

In the event of inclement weather, the tailgate will be held in the Student Center and the carnival will be canceled.

12-2 p.m. – Delzell Hall Grand Opening and Dedication followed by Open House – Delzell Hall

1 p.m. – 1867 Society Reception – Administration Building, 3rd Floor

2 p.m. – Football vs. Graceland University – The Oak Bowl

Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (age 65 and older), and $5 for non–Peru State students ages 7–17. Peru State students with a student ID and children six and younger are admitted free.

Halftime – Coronation of Homecoming King and Queen – The Oak Bowl
