Peru, Nebraska – Peru State College will host its 44th Annual High School Business Contest on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.

Students from Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas high schools will compete for scholarships and awards. Students and business instructors are invited to a general assembly meeting at 8:30 a.m. At the end of the contest, an awards ceremony will take place at 1:15 p.m. in the College Theatre for final announcements and awards.

Ms. Lisa Parriott, contest director and instructor in the School of Professional Studies, said, “This is my second year as director of the contest and I am in awe of the support we receive for this contest from the college community and students as well as area high schools.”

Competitions will be held in 16 different disciplines, including accounting, advanced accounting, business communications, business ethics, business law, business math, computer concepts, economics, entrepreneurship, introduction to business, job interview, keyboarding (skills), marketing, personal finance, web page design, and word processing.

$500 tuition scholarships for on-campus classes to Peru State will be awarded to first-place winners in each of the 16 categories. First through fifth place winners will be awarded medals.

Participating high schools include Auburn, Axtel, Bellevue East, Concordia, Deshler, Elmwood-Murdock, Falls City High, Freeman Public, Gretna High, Heartland Community, HTRS, Johnson County Central, Johnson-Brock, Nebraska City High, Northwest Magnet High, Palmyra, Plattview, Sabetha, Sidney Sterling Public Schools, Syracuse, Tarkio High, Tri County, and Wymore Southern.
