Peru, Nebraska – Peru State College and the Peru Chamber of Commerce are hosting Halloween events for area elementary school children and their parents on Sunday, October 29 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will be held in downtown Peru and on the Peru State College campus.

The event is free and open to the public. Families with small children are encouraged to attend.

Downtown Peru:

The Peru Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Trunk-or-Treat in downtown Peru starting at 4 p.m. The Trunk-or-Treat will feature a costume contest judged by Peru State students, games, a photo booth, awards for the Best Trunk and candy give-a-ways.

The costume contest judging will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The 2016 four-and-under costume competition was fierce. Peri Sayer (witch), Jasper Shaw (Ninja Turtle), Elsie Hogue (unicorn), Albert Marquez (Ghostbuster), Burke Hardy (Braveheart) and Henry Montanelli (dinosaur) competed.

Peru State Campus:

On the Peru State campus, Boo Bash begins at 4 p.m. and will feature trick-or-treating, crafts, face painting, outdoor games, snacks and other activities. Treats will be available at President Dan and Elaine Hanson’s home, directly north of the Jindra Fine Arts building. There will also be photo opportunities with “Bob” the Bobcat. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Attendees should plan to arrive on campus by 5 p.m. and follow signs to designated parking areas. The event will conclude no later than 7 p.m.
