Wednesday night the Ethnic Singers, an alumni ensemble formed in 1962, performed on the Spirit of Brownville. The group was well-received and performed again at the President’s All-College dinner, Friday night. In recognition of the College’s Sesquicentennial, the group commissioned a new portrait of Al Wheeler to be displayed in the Al Wheeler Athletic Center (AWAC). The portrait was unveiled Thursday and the artist, 1991 Peru State alumni, Heath Miller was recognized.

Paul Fell, class of 1967 and co-president of the Peru State National Alumni Association, explained that the group has been meeting every couple of years since the 1980s in Worcester, Massachusetts and Cape Cod. The first reunion was held on campus, but the group had not been on campus in more than thirty years.

“With the upcoming sesquicentennial and the idea to commission the painting, the group decided to meet on campus in conjunction of the All-College Reunion.
