Peru, Nebraska- It is always a good day to visit Peru State College! The Campus of a Thousand Oaks
is particularly beautiful in autumn.
If autumn leaves aren’t enough to spark your interest, come visit for four more reasons:
Peru State Theatre Company’s production of “God of Carnage;” Boo Bash and the Peru
Chamber of Commerce’s Trunk-or-Treat; the College’s Distinguished Speaker Series with
Olympian Amy Van Dyken; and "Tour-n-Tailgate" for potential students.

God of Carnage (October 25-30 :
“God of Carnage” is a Tony Award winning comedy by Yasmina Reza that belies its basic
premise of two sets of parents meeting to discuss a playground fight between their
children to provide what the New York Times describes as “the cathartic release of
watching other people’s marriages go boom.”
“God of Carnage” will be presented Tuesday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, October
26 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday October 27 at 5:30 p.m.; Friday, October 28 at 7:30 p.m.;
Saturday, October 29 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, October 30 at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for the general public, $5 for students and $5 for seniors. Tickets
are free for Peru State College students, faculty and staff.
“God of Carnage” occasionally contains language which may be unsuitable for those
under 17.
Boo Bash and Trunk-or-Treat (October 30):
Peru State College and the Peru Chamber of Commerce are hosting Halloween events for
area elementary school children and their parents on Sunday, October 30 from 4 p.m.
to 7 p.m. The event will be held in downtown Peru and on the Peru State College campus.
The event is free and open to the public. Families with small children are encouraged
to attend.
The Trunk-or-Treat begins at 4 p.m. and will feature a costume contest judged by Peru
State students, games, a photo booth, awards for the Best Trunk and candy give-a-ways.
Boo Bash begins at 5 p.m. and will feature trick-or-treating, crafts, face painting,
outdoor games, snacks and other activities. Treats will be available at President
Dan and Elaine Hanson’s home, directly north of the Jindra Fine Arts building. There
will also be photo opportunities with “Bob” the Bobcat. Costumes are encouraged but
not required.
Olympian Amy Van Dyken (November 2):
Six-time Olympic gold medalist and national sports announcer Amy Van Dyken has made
a career out of beating the odds, both in and out of competition.
The record-breaking swimmer came back from a shoulder injury to win a pair of gold
medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics — adding to the four she had already won in 1996.
Fourteen years later, Van Dyken was in an ATV accident that severed her spine. The
43-year-old wasn’t breathing when her husband found her and doctors only gave her
a 20 percent chance of surviving the surgery.
Van Dyken survived and she wants to tell her story of breaking records, beating the
odds and loving life. She will share her message with classes and student organizations.
Van Dyken will be on the Peru State College campus November 2 at 7 p.m. The public
is welcome to attend this free event.
Tour-n-Tailgate:
Peru State College Admissions will be hosting “Tour-n-Tailgate” on November 5 from
10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for potential students. The event will occur before the Peru
State Bobcats take on the Culver-Stockton Wildcats at 1 p.m.
The “Tour-n-Tailgate” event will feature a VIP tailgate for potential students. A
tour of campus will be complimented by free food, entertainment and entry to the 1
p.m. game.
