Peru, Nebraska- Dr. Dan Hanson, president of Peru State College, was the keynote speaker at the
Carl Albin Spader Leadership Luncheon during the Nebraska LEAD 34 Class’ final seminar
on Friday, March 11. Hanson was invited to speak about his leadership experience and
titled his speech, “Ripples of Leadership.”
Hanson said, “Achieve excellence by doing the ordinarily extraordinarily well; communicate
your vision; and be gritty (both passionate and persistent) about your vision . .
. and the ripples of this class’s leadership will become currents of progress building
stronger communities, a stronger state and a stronger nation in ways you cannot imagine.”
Nebraska LEAD 34 fellows, their spouses, Nebraska LEAD staff including LEAD Director
Dr. Terry Hejny and guests from the agricultural community were in attendance. Dr.
Hanson was escorted by his wife, Elaine.
The Leadership Luncheon is named for Carl Albin Spader, the grandfather of Sheryl
Snyder. Sheryl and Larry Snyder are the founders of Snyder Industries in Lincoln.
The Nebraska LEAD Program began 34 years ago to develop agricultural leaders from
Nebraska's future generations. The constant changes that occur in agricultural policy,
marketing, economics and technology point to the need for strong leaders to advocate
for the heart of Nebraska's economy--agriculture. Now in its third decade of forming
pioneering agricultural leaders, LEAD has evolved into one of the nation's premier
agricultural leadership development programs.
