 Peru, Nebraska- Peru State College will host four activities throughout the day on Veterans Day, November 11, 2016. All Veterans Day programs are open and free to the public.

At 8:00 a.m., the Cadence Run will be held. Runners should meet on the campus quad.

The Veterans Day Program will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Jindra Recital Hall. Bill Hessler, Nemaha County Veterans Service Officer, will be the keynote speaker. Veterans from campus and surrounding communities are invited to attend and be recognized as part of the program.

A reception will follow the program. The reception will be held at 10 a.m. in the lobby of the Jindra Fine Arts Building.

Phi Epsilon Kappa will host a Veterans Day Workout Warrior. The workout will be held in the Al Wheeler Activities Center (AWAC) Fitness Center. PEK plans to complete a “mini-murph,” “half-murph” and murph workout. Another workout featuring the “Deck of Cards Challenge” will also be run. Attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate workout attire.

The workout will be led by Dr. Kyle Ryan, associate professor of education. Ryan is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association; a certified Sports Performance Coach with USA Weightlifting; and a Certified Level-1 CrossFit Coach.

Peru State College has a long history of serving veterans and active members of the U.S. Military. In 2016, the College was named a “Military Friendly School” and a “Military Spouse Friendly School” by Victory Media.
