Peru, Nebraska- Peru State College and the Peru State Mathematics Club with faculty advisors Dr. Paul Hinrichs and Dr. Laura McCauley hosted the 23rd Annual Greater Southeast Nebraska Mathematics Challenge on Friday, April 1, 2016. More than 100 students from eleven schools participated in the competition.

Participating schools were divided into three divisions based on the Nebraska School Activities Association enrollment figures for the school. Each school was allowed to enter a team of three students in each of the four subject areas: geometry, algebra II, pre-calculus and calculus.

Students were tested in three different ways. The first was a forty-question, multiple-choice individual exam in the subject for which they registered. The second test was a team exam where the students answered open-ended mathematics questions. The third testing session was a quiz bowl against other students in their subject area.

Awards were given in each division and subject for the three top individual scores on the written tests and the top team score (individual tests and team test) in each division and subject.
