Peru State’s Criminal Justice program named among top 50 in nation.
Peru, Nebraska- Value Colleges named Peru State College’s Criminal Justice program #34 in the nation
for best value in online education. Value Colleges considered 150 online programs
before narrowing down the results to 100% online and accredited schools and then ranking
them by their actual cost, U.S. News & World Report Rankings and Payscale.com’s College
Return on Investment (ROI) Report.
Carrie Sealey-Morris, the editor of ValueColleges.com explains, “Value Colleges is
here to direct prospective students to those online degree programs that offer the
most bang for the buck – accredited, respected universities and colleges that make
an excellent education affordable.”
Dr. Greg Galardi, Dean of the School of Professional Studies, said, “Peru State is
honored to be included on any list recognizing best values in higher education.”
“Our criminal justice majors learn from dynamic and well-trained, scholar-practitioner
faculty who provide an engaging and enjoyable academic experience in criminal justice.
The faculty goes above and beyond to make sure students are prepared for the challenges
criminal justice graduates face in the 21st century.”
Peru State College’s low yearly tuition rate is consistently recognized on lists for
affordability for in-state and out-of-state tuition. The U.S. Department of Education
reports that the national average for tuition costs is 25% more for in-state students
than Peru State and CollegeData.com says Peru State is at 50% of the national average
for out-of-state tuition.
Value Colleges writes, “With tuition at only $246 – with no other hidden fees – Peru
State is a value that is going to get a lot of attention.”
Peru State College did not participate in the U.S. News & World Report Rankings at
the time of this survey. However, the Payscale.com College ROI Report found that at
10.8%, Peru State was best in the state of Nebraska for annual return on investment
after graduation.
Sealey-Morris adds, “Without a U.S. News & World Report ranking, Peru State's showing
is all the more impressive, with cost and average ROI amply making up for the lack
of a third metric.”
Value Colleges writes, “Like any smart, small public college, Peru State is branching
out into online education to fill its students’ needs, and they’re doing so with style.
Their well-designed website and strong programs are a good sign for Peru State’s future.”
Dr. Galardi continues, “The Criminal Justice program is an important and well-respected
program in Nebraska and throughout the nation. Peru State College is proud to provide
well-prepared criminal justice graduates for law enforcement; corrections; probation
and parole; drug and alcohol counseling; private security; and other health and human
services occupations.”
“Our graduates are sought after and highly valued. Our programs help students get
well-paying jobs that allow them to immediately contribute to the human services role
in Nebraska and throughout the nation.”
