Lincoln, Nebraska- Peru State College student Bailey Kuhlmann set four world records for women aged
18-19 in the 105-pound weight class. The world records also qualified as American
records and were recorded at the American Amateur Union World Weightlifting/Powerlifting
National Championship
Kuhlmann’s records include:
American and World Record for Squat - 85 kilograms (187 pounds)
American and World Record for Bench Press - 58.5 kilograms (129 pounds)
American and World Record for Deadlift - 120 kilograms (264.5 pounds)
American and World Record for Total Meet - 263.5 kilograms (581 pounds)
Kuhlmann said, “It was fun to see people from other countries and compete against
them. I was happy and honored to be one of three Nebraskans to participate.”
This summer, Kuhlmann took home first place in the Powerlifting (Raw) category for
female teens weighing 114 pounds at the Cornhusker State Games.
Kuhlmann is a graduate of HTRS High School and lives in Table Rock, Nebraska. She
is a Kinesiology major at Peru State College and is a recipient of the Richard P.
and Laurine Kimmel Exercise Science Scholarship.
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports
organizations in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated
exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness
programs.
