Lincoln, Nebraska- Peru State College student Bailey Kuhlmann took home first place in the Powerlifting (Raw) category for female teens weighing 114 pounds. Kuhlmann lifted 203 pounds for the squat, 121 pounds on the bench and 259 pounds on the deadlift.

Kuhlmann said, “I was kind of surprised my maxes were almost back to peak performance on all lifts, because I had only trained for about two weeks.”

The Cornhusker State Games featured seven powerlifting (raw) categories for female teens between 105 pounds and 181 pounds. Raw means that the lifts were done without supporting equipment like a bench shirt or knee and wrist wraps.

Kuhlmann is a graduate of HTRS High School and lives in Table Rock, Nebraska. She is a Kinesiology major at Peru State College and is a recipient of the Richard P. and Laurine Kimmel Exercise Science Scholarship.
