Peru State alum recognized for work in realty.

Bedford, Iowa– Jan DeMott of Bedford, Iowa has been recognized by Iowa Association of Realtors with the O.G. Powell / Joan Ballantyne Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award is the highest award given by the Iowa Association of Realtors.

The Iowa Association of Realtors writes, “She joined the real estate industry in the early 1980’s after completing a double-major in three years at Peru State College.”

DeMott sells homes, farms and real estate in Iowa. She has also served on the Iowa Real Estate Commission, as president of Bedford’s Chamber of Commerce, as a trustee of Southwest Community College and as president of the Iowa Angus Women’s Auxillary.

DeMott’s award is the second real estate honor bestowed on a friend and alum of Peru State College in 2016. The Nebraska Realtors Association named Janet Palmtag of Nebraska City the Nebraska Realtor of the year in May.
