Kearney, Nebraska – Mike Gerdes of Auburn was recognized as Businessperson of the Year at the 2018-2019 Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) State Leadership Conference. He was nominated for the award by the Peru State College PBL Chapter.
Dr. Sheri Grotrian, professor of business and Peru State’s PBL advisor writes, “Our chapter wanted to recognize Mike for his continual support of our local chapter and members.”
Gerdes writes, “I am very flattered and honored to receive this award on behalf of Auburn State Bank.”
“It is impressive to follow everything that Dr. Grotrian and the Peru State PBL chapter has accomplished from their state and national awards to local community service projects. Peru State College is an integral part of southeast Nebraska and PBL is a prime example of how these students are being prepared to be our future leaders.”
Born and raised in Auburn, Gerdes is a graduate of Auburn High School. He is also a 1988 graduate of Peru State College where he received a bachelors of science in business administration-management with a minor in computer science.
Gerdes began working at Auburn State Bank in 1991. He currently holds the position of vice president.
In addition to his ongoing support of PBL, Gerdes serves on the Board of Peru State’s Football Booster Club. He also served on the College’s latest Strategic Planning Committee.
