Bailey Bindle warns against buzzed driving in advance of St. Patrick’s Day.

Peru, Nebraska – Peru State student, Bailey Bindle, is a member of the 2017-2018 SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) National College Advisory Council.  She serves as the organization’s National Vice President of Communications.

Bindle explains, “I recently authored this Opinion Editorial through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), on the topic of Buzzed Driving Awareness targeted for the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.”

The piece is titled, “This St. Patrick’s Day, Remember: Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.”  The op-ed combines powerful statistics with an emotional call to action.

The op-ed cautions, “Bear this in mind when you head out to your St. Paddy’s Day celebrations: In 2016 alone, 60 people were killed in drunk-driving crashes over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday period. The one bad decision to drink and drive ripped people from their friends and loved ones forever.”

Bindle is from Falls City, Nebraska. She is studying Criminal Justice and Psychology at Peru State.
