School Closing | Inclement Weather

When inclement weather requires the College to change its regular schedule, the following procedures will apply to campus activities. For off-campus (Extended Learning) courses, class status is left to the discretion of the site coordinator. If in the instructor’s opinion it is best to cancel a class, the notification process is the responsibility of the site coordinator.

Campus Closings

Determinations to close the College are made on a day-to-day basis. The College may be closed for the entire day or for a portion of the day. When the College is closed, all on-campus classes and public activities are cancelled, and offices are closed.

Students

Check your Email for updated information about campus activities and food service while the College is closed. Generally, the College will attempt to observe the following hours for student use of campus facilities:

Cafeteria: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.; 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Library: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Game Room: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
AWAC: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. (subject to team practices)

Fitness Center: 6 a.m. - 11 p.m.

When the campus is closed, students should not attempt to drive anywhere until parking lots and roads have been cleared. A stuck vehicle can easily interfere with emergency and plow access for the entire City of Peru.

Employees

When the campus is closed, only personnel designated by the Security Supervisor, the Director of Campus Services, or the Dean of Student Life will report. Other personnel should not come to campus, as snow removal procedures may prevent access to buildings and facilities. An employee who is required to report to work to provide emergency or other essential services as determined by the College will be allowed comparable time off on an alternate date mutually agreed upon by the supervisor and the employee. Staff absences during the time the College is closed are not charged against any leave balances.
