Dr. Kristin Buscher is Director of Assessment and Accreditation for Peru State College.
As the Director of Assessment and Accreditation, she oversees institutional research,
assessment, and accreditation. She really enjoys sitting down with faculty and staff
and helping them determine the best possible way to assess their programs.
Dr. Buscher has over 13 years of experience in higher education mostly focused in
enrollment management, student affairs, strategic planning, institutional research,
and assessment. Her first experiences were in recruiting and admissions and she spent
five years at College of Saint Mary improving recruitment, admissions, and on-boarding
processes for the transfer and graduate students. She also was involved in the accreditation
process at CSM with her involvement on the Council for Institutional Effectiveness,
serving on numerous AQIP projects, and planning for accreditation site visits.
In her previous position, she served as the Associate Dean of Student Services at
Iowa Western Community College where she served as a member of the senior leadership
team in Student Services focused on strategic planning and decision making for the
Division. She was also involved in strategic planning at the institutional level.
Primarily, she had been responsible for building a culture of assessment in the Division
of Student Services by building an infrastructure to support and sustain the culture.
In addition to her experience with data and assessment, she has led many initiatives
focused on improving student success including the development of a late registration
policy, implementation and management of a retention alert software, and oversight
of an intrusive advising model.
She earned her BA in Liberal Arts from Colorado State University, her MBA from University
of Phoenix, and recently completed her Doctorate of Education (EdD) in Educational
Leadership at College of Saint Mary in 2020. She wrote her dissertation on faculty
leadership of assessment through their involvement on assessment committees and the
impact of those committees on building and sustaining a culture of assessment.
She has been married to Jon Buscher, a 6th grade science teacher at Millard North
Middle School, for 14 years and they have one son, Nicholas, who is entering sixth
grade.
