Invest in Success Awards

We know that high school GPA is a strong predictor of student success at Peru State College. Students that qualify are guaranteed a renewable tuition award in their admissions letter, by completing an application for admission, including submission of an official high school transcript and official ACT/SAT score. The priority deadline for these awards is March 1.

Competitive Academic Scholarships

Competitive scholarships are subject to availability and are tuition waiver scholarships unless noted otherwise. Competitive scholarships cannot be combined and are available to freshmen who enroll for the fall semester immediately completing high school. Eligible candidates must be degree-seeking and enroll in 12 or more credit hours each semester.

Governor’s Opportunity Award
Award Amount: Half Tuition – $10,800 ($2,700/yr) | Only one scholarship available

Cooperating Schools Scholarship
Award Amount: Half on-campus tuition waiver renewable for four years
Deadline: March 1
Eligibility:
  1. Eligible Schools for 2019-2020

  3. Rank in the top half of your graduating class

Clements Band Scholarship Competition
Award Amount: $2,000 over a two year period ($500/semester). A second place award of $500 will also be given on a one-time basis.
Deadline: March 10
Eligibility:
  1. Any high school graduate (age 17 through 24 years of age) who meets Peru State College admissions requirements and has a high school cumulative gpa of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale (4.0 being the highest) or its equivalent is eligible to apply.
  2. The eligible applicant must have participated in music during high school.

RHOP | Rural Health Opportunities Program

Special Peru State College Freshman Scholarships

Athletic Scholarships
Award Amount: Coach’s Discretion
Description: Peru State College athletic teams offer scholarships in the form of tuition and room waivers to program participants for each of the eight athletic teams as well as cheerleading. Interested student athletes should contact the head coach for the sport of interest at 402-872-2350 or athletics@peru.edu.
Art Scholarships
Award Amount: Varies
Description: Scholarships in the form of tuition waivers are available for students who major in art.  Demonstrated ability and department needs determine award recipients and amounts. A portfolio is required.  For additional information, contact the Art Department at 402-872-2271 or btrail@peru.edu.
Music Scholarships
Award Amount: Varies
Description: Music participation scholarships in the form of tuition waivers are available to participants in instrumental and vocal music organizations. An audition is required.  Award amounts are determined by demonstrated ability, musicianship and department needs. Music participation scholarships are available to all college students. Military Service Scholarship
Award Amount: Varies
Deadline: Rolling Award
Eligibility:
  1. Active, Reserved, ROTC Member or received Honorable Discharge and Exhausted GI Bill.
  2. This scholarship will complement but not replace military and veteran education benefits, to include books, room and board.
  3. Not available for military dependents of military personnel.
  4. Scholarship is not automatically renewable, student may reapply annually.

Susan T. Buffett Foundation Scholarship
Deadline: February 1
Details: The Susan T. Buffett Foundation provides scholarships that can be used to cover expenses related to attending college (e.g. tuition and fees, housing, books). The amount of the scholarship varies by institution but is typically equal to the average cost of tuition and fees for a full-time student (15 credits) at that institution. PTK Plus Scholarship
Award Amount: $500/yr tuition waver for two years

Eligibility:
  1. Community college graduate
  2. Cumulative college GPA of 3.5
  3. Induction into Phi Theta Kappa
  4. Copy of Phi Theta Kappa membership card must accompany application materials
  5. Plan to begin studies in the Fall or Spring
  6. Submission of a Personal Statement
  7. Given to all students who are not selected for the Full Tuition PTK Scholarship
  8. This award can be combined with General Academic Transfer Awards and the Transfer Plus scholarship.

 

Transfer Plus Scholarship
Award Amount: $500/yr tuition waver for two years
Deadline: Rolling award
Eligibility:
  1. Community college transfer
  2. Student transferring in a minimum of 24 credit hours
  3. Cumulative college GPA of 2.5 or higher
  4. Enrolled as a full time student (12 credit hours per semester)
  5. May be combined with General Academic Scholarships and the PTK Plus award
  6. Cannot be combined with PTK full tuition
  7. Submission of a Personal Statement

 

Davis-Chambers Scholarship
Award Amount: $4,000 ($2,000/yr)

Eligibility:
  1. Must be a Nebraska high school graduate
  2. Must be a Nebraska Community College transfer student
