The 150th anniversary of the first shots fired at Fort Sumter is April 12, 2011. In order to commemorate this event Peru State College's Phi Alpha Theta will be hosting a two day undergraduate conference on the PSC campus. This conference will be interdisciplinary and encourages topics such as:
- Economics
- Art
- Music
- Medical Technology
- Literature
- Psychology/Sociology
- History of the Civil War
There will be 1st prize of $500 each in all four catagories: Papers, Posters, Poetry, and PowerPoint Presentations. There will also be 2nd prizes of $100 each awarded in each category.
This conference will provide social science/history undergraduate majors and other undergraduate students studying in the region with an opportunity to participate in an undergraduate conference event and gain experience in:
- evaluating abstracts for proposed papers/posters/ power point presentations/poetry
- writing and presenting academic papers /posters/ power point presentations/poetry
- organizational and leadership skills
- opportunity to travel
- networking opportunities
