At 3:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, Tyler (Ty) Thomas- (DOB 9/7/91) - was reported missing after attending an off-campus party in Peru. She was last seen at 1:30 a.m. walking toward the Centennial Complex residence hall on the southwest side of Peru.

 

A Bellevue resident, Thomas is a freshman at Peru State College. She is a black female, 5'5" tall, 140 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a teal shirt with green sweat pants, a scarf and ear muffs.

 

Anyone with information pertaining to the whereabouts of Tyler (Ty) Thomas is asked to call the Nemaha County Sheriff's Office at 402-274-3139.

The Peru State College community will gather on Wednesday, Nov.  30 to mark one year since Peru State student Tyler “Ty” Thomas disappeared. (Tyler disappeared on Dec. 3, 2010.) Student Senate and Black Student Union have planned several activities to honor Tyler, including:

 

Tell Someone Thank You

Note cards and envelopes will be available in the Student Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for members of the campus community who wish to write a note of appreciation to someone important in his/her life. The college will mail the letters the following morning. Participants are asked to bring postal addresses. 

 

Letters of Support for Tyler’s Family

Letter writing materials will be available in the Student Center from 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to write letters of support to Tyler’s family. The notes will be delivered to Tyler’s family by members of PSC’s Black Student Union.

 

Ties for Ty

Members of the campus community are invited to wear a neck tie to honor Tyler. Purple ribbons of remembrance will also be available in the Student Center.

 

Say a Prayer for Tyler

A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. in the Live Oak Room of the Student Center. The vigil will be led by Pastor Tony Sanders from the Koinonia House of Worship in Omaha. There will be an opportunity for individuals to share personal stories about Tyler during the service. Photography, as well as audio and video recordings, is prohibited.

 

The public is welcome to participate in any of the events.
