Business Administration - Management

 

Pursuit of the Bachelor of Applied Science degree requires the completion of a technical associate degree or equivalent in prior course work and life experience.  Students with careers in the military, applied sciences, computers, information management, law enforcement and corrections, find this degree program to assist them in completing a baccalaureate degree while maintaining full time employment.

 

The degree is designed for individuals interested in developing management skills to complement their technical or professional background. Individuals wishing to pursue a graduate degree in business may wish to take prerequisites common to many MBA programs. Contact your advisor for more information.

The Bachelor of Applied Science degree is designed for transfer students who have an associate degree in a technical major or its equivalent in credits and life experience.  The degree is flexible enough to accommodate the transfer student who meets the following minimum requirements.

 

Prerequisites

Degree candidates must have a technical associate degree from a regionally-accredited institution or its equivalent in credits and life experience.

 

Total Hours
Degree candidates must earn a minimum of 120 semester credit hours.  A minimum of 30 semester hours must be Peru State College instruction.  A minimum of 59 semester hours are to be completed through accredited institutions authorized to grant a baccalaureate or higher degree.  Exceptions: 1) Basic or recruit military training may be used to satisfy the general studies Physical and Mental Health requirement; and 2) a maximum of 30 hours of CLEP subject examinations is acceptable.

 

Upper Division Credit
Degree candidates must earn at least 20 semester hours of upper-division credit (300 and 400 level courses).

 

Grade Point Average
A minimum, cumulative grade point average of 2.0 is required for all coursework completed at Peru State College.

 

General Studies
Thirty semester credit hours are required.  Courses must be selected from at least five (5) of the following general studies topic areas:  Collegiate Skills, Quantitative Reasoning, Stat 210 is required for all students, Technology and its Application, Perspectives on Values, Thought and Aesthetics, Methods of Inquiry and Explanatory Schema, and Community, Regional and Global Studies. Specific courses that fulfill these requirements are listed in MYPSC or the current college catalog.

 

Complementary Emphasis
A minimum of 30 semester credit hours in business, economics, and/or computer and management information systems (CMIS) courses is required with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0.

 

Technical Emphasis
Sixty-six semester hours of credit from the technical associate degree are the maximum applicable toward the 120 hours required for the Bachelor or Applied Science degree.

 

Additional Degree Requirements
In addition to the above degree requirements, the following regulations apply to Peru State College bachelor degrees:
