Business Administration majors are encouraged to complete one or more internships before graduating. The Criminal Justice major and the Psychology major require completion of an internship; most CJ majors complete two internships. Psychology majors benefit from completing internships, particularly if they have an interest in securing business or human services positions.

The experience achieved through completing internships readies students for employment in major areas of expertise. Students gain valuable opportunities to refine their skills and gain knowledge regarding "real-world" organizational practices. In some cases, successful completions of internships result in job offers after graduation.

These valuable experiences can be gained while earning upper-division academic credit. The maximum number of internship hours allowed to count toward a degree is 12. Internship employment should be in positions that are relevant to students' majors or career interests. A flexible registration schedule allows students to enroll through the middle of each semester.

Students who have completed 45 credit hours of college coursework (at least 15 hours of the work at Peru State College) and are in good academic standing (2.00 GPA or above) are eligible to enroll. However, internship experiences are typically completed in the junior or senior year - many during the summer months.
