Bio:

Vijay Sharma was raised primarily in Skokie, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Loyola University Chicago, and a Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School.

Sharma served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office from 2005 to 2007. He was assigned to the Child Support Enforcement Division before being promoted to the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau. He routinely negotiated dispositions with defense attorneys or took matters to trial.

In 2007, he began his own law firm, focusing on criminal defense, DUI, traffic, and family law. In 2009, Vijay Sharma was invited to join a Workers’ Compensation law firm. He served in this capacity for a year before the enjoyment and majesty of criminal law called him back to his own firm. In his career, Sharma has tried hundreds of cases throughout the State of Illinois from felony and misdemeanor cases as well as bench and jury trials.

In 2010, Sharma began to teach Constitutional Law as an adjunct professor at the City Colleges of Chicago. This ignited his passion for teaching that brought him to Peru State College.

Vijay Sharma is also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do as well as a movie enthusiast and is sometimes an obnoxiously loud football fan.
