Engagement
National Association for Music Education (NAfME)
"NAfME is a national organization which strives to advance music education by promoting
the understanding and making of music by all. It is our vision to lead the world in
music education, and empower generations to create, perform, and respond to music"
( nafme.org ).
NAfME is open to anyone with an interest in music who values music education. The
Peru chapter of NAfME is committed to providing an variety of enriching music experiences
and service opportunities throughout our campus and community. An active campus organization,
NAfME meets regularly to discuss ideas, events, and activities.
As members of NAfME, students get the opportunity to attend the Nebraska Music Educators
Association conference, held annually in Lincoln, Nebraska. As part of this three-day
conference, students can attend workshops, All State rehearsals, master classes, and
performances by local and regional high schools and colleges.
Community Involvement
Peru State's ensembles have a strong presence and reputation on campus and throughout the southeast Nebraska community. A campus and community favorite, the Jazz Ensemble hosts "Jazz on the Green" in the fall and spring. Unique opportunities also exist for our Peru State Choirs to perform the national anthem for sporting events both on-campus and locally.
