Peru State’s Hoyt Street Jazz Ensemble and Concert Band to perform free public concert Sunday, Feb. 23

 

(Peru, Neb.) Peru State College’s Hoyt Street Jazz Ensemble and Concert Band will perform a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 in the College Theatre. There is no admission charge and the public is encouraged to attend.

The groups perform under the direction of Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Director of Bands Dr. Patrick Fortney and Assistant Director of Bands Mr. Kenneth Meints.

The Hoyt Street Jazz Ensemble will open the concert with a set by Steely Dan, including Don’t Take Me Alive, Peg, Josie and Kid Charlemagne.

Concert Band will continue the program with a new piece by Midwest composer Daniel Baldwin, titled Escape Velocity. They will also feature New York: 1927 by Warren Barker and Suite Provençale (a suite of French folk songs) by Jan Van der Roost.
